Beautiful old pines at this site! Shady, but still open enough that it would catch a bit of breeze from the lake on a windy day. Bugs could be a problem, though not on the day of our visit. Landing is a smooth rock face that ends at a sandy bottom. Weeds just offshore, so swimming isn't great. Plenty of tent pad opportunities and hammock spots. Should be no problem finding a bear rope tree.

Narrow, sandy landing with a couple of rocks to avoid. The campsite is closed in, surrounded by trees (mostly big white pines and cedars), so not much of a view. You should find plenty of hammock spots.

It's more of an autumn camp site. As others have said repeatedly, it's secluded but not claustrophobic. Great for hammocks. If you need a view of the lake, keep on a truckin' - this site will not be for you.

Backtracked to this site after finding no vacancy on Gaskin. As others have noted, this is a very sheltered and shady site, being in the midst of a pine grove. I understand how some might find it claustrophobic, but it had a kind of magical quality. With the birch leaves coming down, I kept half an eye out for a party of Elves on their way to the Grey Havens.
Canoe landing was surprisingly good; in Sept there's a nice flat sandy area in front of the rocky shore, with a few inches of water to step into. One really great tent pad, and a couple more that were all right if you can live without a perfectly level floor. One tree that will prevent you from covering the seating area with a tarp; covering one corner will have to suffice. Fireplace looked recently renovated -- we had some cozy fires to drive away the cold and damp.
Would give four stars, but the path to the latrine (in 2020) is every bit as rocky as the Vista-Horseshoe portage; not the kind of thing you want to navigate in the middle of the night! Still, the site made a very cozy home for a long weekend at the end of September.

Woody site with lots of shade, but not so dense to prevent wind from dispersing the bugs. There would be 4 good tent pads if it weren't for a dying tree slouching over a tent pad. The trees allow for many great hammock spots and privacy.

We always have 6 middle schoolers and 2 chaperones so 2 tents and a couple of hammocks. This year there was a cow and her baby eating 200 yds from the campsite.

Nice large site with lots of room for tents, hammocks and tarps. The kitchen is set back into the woods a bit but not to far off the water. 2 Good landings. Great site for kids to run and have fun. Group of 8.

Wasn't our first choice for a site, but ended up being much better than we anticipated. Lots of trees, but doesn't feel claustrophobic. Tons of hammock options. Nice, pine needle flooring throughout. Two good tent pads. Kitchen area is set back from the water, so views are not the greatest, but the trees are not super thick, so you can catch small glimpses of the water from the kitchen. A bit of a rocky path to the latrine. Overall, we were satisfied with this site.

Great site. Lots of room for tents and hammocks. Lots of protection and the ground is like carpet with the soft pine needles under your feet. Would have been a 5 star but the landing didn't make the cut.
