Loved the seclusion! Canoe was a zoo, but Crystal was blissful! Never saw anyone else on Crystal. As noted earlier, tent pads are slightly sloped. But firepit is high above the water, affording a nice view through the trees. Great day trip option to Bench or to Spaulding to see the old cabin. Latrine is uncomfortably close to the firepit.

Spent one night here after finding Canoe full. What a treat to be so far down the lake! The seclusion was complete. The lake is pretty narrow, giving a more intimate feel than some of the other larger lakes in the area. There is a nice rock slab for southern star-gazing. My only complaint was that the tent pads have a bit of a slope to them. Not awful, but enough to wake me as I slowly slid off my pad. I heard a wolf pack howling at 2 AM - pretty sure they were near the southern shore directly across from the campsite!

Good spot for hammocking, though there didn't seem to be any excellent tent pads. I felt alone here - almost in a creepy way.

This is a nice, secluded campsite. Crystal Lake is beautiful and would appear to have numerous excellent fishing spots. Since this campsite sits at the eastern end of the lake, it takes some work to get to it. Although it is situated very close to the portage from Crystal to Spaulding (which then leads to Bench), those are not well traveled lakes, so we saw very few people during our six day stay (like 3, total). It was very nice. The campsite is situated on a slope; Comfortable tent pads looked limited, but we found the site to be perfect for two hammocks. I heard a low humming all night, and in the day when the wind was calm. I've also heard the same humming on Alton. (Hoveland Hum?) My son couldn't hear it.

Quite south facing campsite. If you don't mind being spread out, you can find at least 3 good tent pads. Landing area is decent and swimming out front on a sunny day is a must. Best campsite if you want to fish for brook trout on Bench Lake and day trip to Johnson Falls.

This site was quite and away from the traffic of Canoe! The site would not be great for tent set up but we had 4 people hammock camping and you couldn't beat it! Great landing, nice fire pit, decent Latrine, everything was great except the fishing.

Nice secluded site off the main travel route. Tent pads are not the best on this site. A little exposed to the elements on this site - it was very cold and windy when we were here, so perhaps any site would have felt a little exposed. Fun day-trip over to Spaulding and Bench Lakes from here.

Off the beaten path on beautiful Crystal Lake, this site was a good stop for us during our 3N loop from East Bearskin. Several nice pines for shelter if raining or windy, decent cooking area and good bear trees. Smaller site for a couple of tents, but we enjoyed this one. Next to no traffic at all... very private.
