A very nice campsite with significant rock features on the north end.

The site is expansive providing for plenty of hammock and bug tent setup options. The flat rocks on the site are also a good place to lay and watch the stars at night. The kitchen is nicely sheltered with rocks and looks out over the lake. We didn't see any big tent pads, but we did not wander far up the trails looking for any as we camped in a 4-person tent. The fishing around the peninsula was good, especially for bass. Fishing from canoe off the cliff face on the north side resulted is some of the biggest bass we caught on our trip. Only saw one motor boat and one other canoe during three days on Loon Lake, so it was like we had the lake to ourselves.

Steep site, a lot of up hill and down hill to get from cooking site to tent site. Has some massive blown down trees and the root structures are maybe 9 feet tall. Can walk to a river mouth from the site. Caught smallmouth and northern just downstream of the beaver dam.

I thought this was a great site. Many trees for hammocks. Lots of elevation provides for great views from the kitchen. The site itself was quite expansive and there are trails meandering around the cliffs. A few downed trees hinder the cohesiveness of the site, but it's not bad. There is a great canoe garage at the canoe landing on the south side. As the previous canoeist mentioned, the sandy beach across the bay at the portage makes for good swimming.

Nice elevated site with a good veiw to the west . Sandy areas in water for swimming or cooling off. Good possibility of seeing wildlife near heritage creek. Nice drop off to west - potential for good fishing.
