Our 8 y.o. daughter loved exploring all the little trails and areas around the camp. Wonderful views of Alton from the cooking area, which was near the water. Lots of pleasant areas to watch the wilderness. Saw some otters playing on the shore just south of the site. Landing was pretty challenging with easterly winds and inexperienced canoeists.

A large, sprawling site. Like most sites on Alton, the landing is terrible. The tent pads are spread out and will accommodate large tents. There is not much elevation to the site - the kitchen and most of the tent pads are close to the water.

Very large campsite. Nice firepit area. Poor canoe access, very rocky - can be tough on a windy day. Lots of open places for tents.

Would maybe rate it a 3 1/2 if that were an option. We liked the site but there were just two of us. It has a sloping area for the fire grate and kitchen, and the landing is rocky - but just about everything on Alton has this type of landing. We set up a hammock and tent near the water, but there is a larger area elevated behind the fire pit area.

Small sloping peninsula, poor landing, no large or flat tent areas, limited hammock hanging options, no wind cover
