Large elevated site with a nice view of the water from the landing. Plenty of places for tents or hammocks, and lots of space. Not a great view of the lake once up in camp, and the fire grate faces back toward the woods. This site showed multiple signs of overuse, it was a challenge to find firewood nearby and virtually every tree in camp had its smaller low hanging branches snapped off making hanging the gravity filter difficult.

Campsite is hidden on top of a hill. It is hard to see from the water if it is occupied. Open space at the top of the hill has the kitchen and most of the good tent pads. There is one tent pad down by the landing. There is another excellent tent pad if you don't mind long hikes - take the trail going north out of the campsite and you will find a nice flat, open area. There is a great bear-hanging tree right in camp. The landing, like most on Alton, is difficult if you want to keep your feet dry (if you don't mind wet-footing, it is easy). The bay is shallow and has poor fishing. It makes for excellent swimming, though - my kids enjoyed playing in the sandy shallows all afternoon.

Excellent campsite. Came here with family and wives. Nice open area for campfire with log seats. Easy canoe entry. Poor shore fishing.

Lots of flat ground need the fire grate, protected tent pads away from grate, nice sandy bay for walking and swimming
