Almost all of the other sites on Sawbill were taken and this was our last resort before looking at a portage to Alton. Despite this we found this site quite accommodating. There is a nice sandy landing that can support 2 canoes. The fire pit/kitchen area is nice, but the fire pit is not facing towards the lake and this is a bit annoying. We had 4 tents and had a hard time finding enough good tent space. There is one very nice and level space just beyond the fire pit. We ended up putting 2 tents here, one closer to the landing area and a 4th back behind the bivy. The lake views a re beautiful from this site and there was virtually no canoe traffic, so it was a very private site.

We managed to fit 5 tents on this site and no one was uncomfortable. It can be done. A couple were very close to one another though. Enjoyed the spruce grouse.

labor day weekend 2019. This site was pretty cushy compared to others we've stayed at. manicured landing for the canoes, and two "bedrooms" for tents. there's a grove of bushes/trees that separate the two tent pad areas. could probably fit a third but we just had two. great sandy lakeshore for swimming as well. I'd give this 4.5 stars out of 5, half a star deducted only because we saw alot of canoe traffic coming and going from the outfitter

We stayed here fourth of july 2019. We had multiple moose encounters close by which was amazing. We had a loon or two stay the night. We had a lot of mosquitos as usual. This site had amazing stairs built in from long ago, about 6 steps (made with large logs and nails) that welcome you along with a sandy shore. It stays shallow a ways out so it's easy to get in and out of the water, bring a floatie! We didn't have a ton of luck fishing, caught some northern here for dinner. Great spot to string a hammock and view the lake with a bay to yourself.

Nice landing for canoe and swimming. Site gets a ton of sun. When not on the water I was in it. Fire/sitting area still in good shape. Convenient for day trip to Kelso.

Good landing with small gravel. Slight walk uphill to the camp area. Fire pit in good shape. Had log seats on two side of fire pit and left a small pile of wood ready for the net visitors. Short walk to the west provided a good area for wood. Good path back to the North West from the back of the camp site to the latrine. Water was pretty clear. Didn't see but one other group pass by looking for the portage to Kelso.
