A narrow but excellent gently sloped rock shelf landing. The rock shelf continues up into camp proper and offers an excellent area to set a tarp over. However, the shallow soil does make getting a tent staked properly a difficult task. There are only 2 spots for a tent near camp, and one is quite lumpy. If your feeling adventurous there may be spots back near the latrine that might work as there has been a recent blowdown just outside of camp. (Although hammock users will find this site appealing.) This also serves as a great spot to gather firewood. Cedars & balsam trees do an excellent job of sheltering the site but, the tradeoff is that there is no decent view of the lake from the fire grate area. But there are a couple of spots that offer up a scenic panoramic view the lake just outside of camp including an idyllic rock ledge that serves as a great area to watch the sunset. Much of the forest behind camp is incredibly open & clearly invites exploration making the latrine somewhat difficult to find.
