The famous Rose Falls is the obstacle mandating the creation of the Stairway Portage. The main falls is near the intersection of the portage and the BRT with a bridge crossing in place for the portage. From there, the falls tumble a significant distance through a rocky, cedar-lined gorge to Rose Lake.
