The stairway portage is flanked on either side by wonderful overlooks. This famous one captures splendid views of the Arrow Palisades and the main expanse of Rose Lake and is the first one encountered on the way west on the Border Route from Rose Falls.

the west overlooks easily trumps the east overlook. Rose West Overlook on the BRT is only 2nd to the Rat Rose Overlook 1 miles to the west on the BRT
