One last marked portage for a while on the way to Bootleg. We weren't moving fast across this area due to low water, lurking boulders, but the portage was still ok. What followed after this though were two boulder fields in rapid succession that made us question if we'd have enough daylight to make Bootleg if the entire LIS was like this. We had a heart to heart as we bushwhacked along the boulderfields and agreed that one more would probably force us to turn around. Thankfully, once you clear the boulderfields in this area, the river changes to a marshy paddle with beaver dams (11 between Cummings and Bootleg) rather than picking through boulders. Get an early start to your day and you'll make it to Bootleg. We did it in lowish water conditions.

A massive beaver dam failed on the east end making the paddle a little sketchy at points. This trail also felt incredibly remote. It's worth checking out the ruined dam as it is truly impressive. Nice wilderness trail.
