Short up-and-down type portage. Quite rocky throughout but nothing unusual for the region. A poor and rocky landing on the Rum Lake side, a tricky take-out here.

Short but steep. On fresh legs, it is not too bad. After completing the Misquah-Little Trout portage, this one just about killed me.

Rocky boulder garden landings which proved slightly unaccomodating in the icy stew. Portage was a litte slippery, but not all that bad, and the lakes in this area are beautiful.

The landing on Rum is a thriving boulder garden. From there the boulders recede slightly but, the trail climbs very steeply up a brushy path before dropping down and tapering off just before reaching Little Trout Lake. The landing there is also full of boulders but, a bit more accommodating. There's a nice view of the island site from this landing.
