What a portage! Coming from Chaser you're greeted by a vertical 10ft rock wall with a little waterfall coming down, and when you stick your head above the only slightly less steep rock wall next to it, there is a massive beaver dam 10-15 feet above your head. Neither left nor right is easy, but we went left (after failing right) and got the boat back into the water. This uncharted (on Voyageur maps) beaver pond is a wonderful sunken forest filled with ghost trees, just a short paddle to the next portage. The whole thing is a sight worth seeing

Short, but very steep and rocky, climb up out of Chaser.

Hardest 7 rod portage you will ever do. We were psyched to have only 7 Rods. Ha! We named this one Humpty Dumpty.

This was short, but all uphill heading west. Watch your footing on this one. The two portages are separated by a muddy pond which was an interesting paddle. Don't get distracted by the trails heading in both directions around the pond. They appear to go around, but both lead to dead ends.
