I had a tough time finding this one but thats mostly on me. It was slightly east of where my McKenzie map had it marked. Once I found the creek exiting Wine, I just paddled the north shore to the east until I found it. Early on in the portage there is a giant car-sized dolmen rock perched on three small rocks. Worth stopping to check out. The rocky descent into Mug is a bit nasty, watch your steps carefully. Once on Mug, make sure to check out the giant waterfall at the southwest end, I heard it before I saw it! It was a raging triple waterfall when I was there in May.

Do not be tempted to follow the creek or you'll be in for quite the ride! This portage exists to circumvent Mug Falls. The Mug Lake end is very steep, but the rest of the trail is filled with gentle ups and downs. The moose appear to love this portage!

Flat & grassy/weedy on the Wine end, before dropping steeply down to mug Lake. Be sure to check out the waterfall on mug.
