This portage broke some members of our canoe party. To be fair, it was over 30 degrees and very humid. The weather combined with the pretty dismal condition of the "trail" resulted in a change of plans due to nervousness about subsequent portages on the south route (we deviated north out of Dragon Lake instead). Needless to say, this section of WCPP still needs some more love and attention from a crew with chainsaws and ribbons.

2023 Update: I tried this portage again in 2023 and it has not been cleared. I tried with a handsaw but only got half way. This still needs chainsaw help from the Park staff. Check with them first before using. 2022 Comments: This portage was burned from the Ken51 2021 fire and has many trees down. I could not follow the path going east and had to climb/crawl/drag my way through this one. It will need to be re-built by the Park or by someone with more time. I also found the pond between this portage and the one further east to have been drained, so much lower than usual. I had to drag/carry my gear and canoe through the floating bog. Hopefully the beavers come back to re-build the dam at the east end. During normal levels the canoe path is on the south side of the pond.
