I approached this portage from the south and had trouble finding the path, even after the Park clearing this trail in July of 2023. See photo below. The big problems are that the new jack pines from the last 2018 forest fire are now growing back thick and at eye level. This portage is also not used much (maybe a handful of paddlers a year?) so the trail is not getting beaten down to something you can follow. It requires some detective work. I cleaned it up with handsaw and added some orange flagging tape, so it is now better, but expect more trees to come down. Both ends of the portage are now marked with rock cairns.
