I am with Ed on this one. For such a short portage, the landings were a bit tricky on both sides. From Swamp it is a quick short up with a sharp turn that was tight with the canoe. Maybe a tree fell across the old portage? It definitely is NOT a quick lift over without emptying the canoe.

Pay no attention to the other reviews, something has changed and the Zephyr landing is an absolute pain in the a**. When land on Swamp Lake side, path goes to left, then up - don't follow the creek coming down from Zephyr. But be prepared for what awaits you on the other side - steep drop off both above and below waterline makes loading packs and bodies into and out off canoes more than a challenge.

Came face to face with a 80 - 90 lb bear at this portage. The next morning when getting back on our route, we encountered him again.

It doesn't get much easier. Quick drag over. Unfortunately, the one site was full so it was back to Swamp for us.

Very short with easy landings on both sides. Pretty rocky, so watch for ankle-breakers.

I've crossed this portage many times. It is a fairly simple portage. We don't even empty the canoe, just lift it from one lake to the other. There is good shallow shores on both sides to easily launch a canoe.
