Simple portage around a beaver dam. The dam had only a slight water level change, and might be runable in some conditions. I lined the loaded canoe over it from shore. Alders along the bank made this tricky. Trails through the alder showed that I wasn't the first to try this. However, the line got stuck in the alders alot, and it probably would have been simpler to just do the portage (which is what we did a few days later when going upstream).
