We did not look for the portage. We could see that the water between the island on river left had trees down across strainers or sweepers so dangerous. We ran this river right. From my track we scouted in canoe above by looking and ran it without getting out of the canoe.

Portage completely unfindable (at least from travelling in the upstream direction). Spent an hour bushwhacking through the woods to try and find it, may have been lost from old burn, or lack of upstream travel. Very strong difficult current to wade through. Shoreline too overgrown and current to strong and deep along shoreline to line on river right. Took almost 40 mins to wade the 500m through river left-centre. May be potentially easier to wade/line on river right. Mainly strong current that likely easily runnable in downstream direction.
