When I used this portage it was flooded at the start, once on drier ground I encountered blowdowns that could be bypassed. Several different landings on the lower end. I used the whole length of the trail due to high water. There's a swift upriver that needs to be paddled. A "scout trail" that starts where the river narrows, on the south shore, leads to a nice point with a good overview.

Rapids was also just upstream of this portage that we ran. Longer portage somewhat harder to scout. Really rocky rapids with just a lot of rocks to work around. Portage was recommended and we agreed so we did the portage.

The portage itself wasn't bad. Unremarkable except... the deer flies were absolutely horrible, the worst I have seen in my 55 years! We rushed through it!

Huge blowdowns blocked portage about midway through, trail had routed back to the shoreline and continued along boulders/cobbles. Multiple canoe paint marks along the rocks indicated this wasn't the first instance.
