This portage does not exist anymore - or if it does we could not see any signs of it at either end. We committed to the portage anyway - and spent 10 hours getting to the logging road that crosses the supposed trail at the 1000 meter point. It is a historical portage used during the fur trade days when furs were shipped from Nipigon House to Osnaburgh House for eventual transport down the Albany to the HBC post on James Bay. A similar comment could probably be attached to the portage from Savant into the Ogoki River system, as well as the four portages on the map taking paddlers towards Tew Lake. An indication of the purely historical nature of the portage would be appropriate.
