My two daughters and I enjoyed the struggle of completing this portage. The other comments are accurate. I will also note I had to get out of my canoe a little before the landing because we were caught up on something...low and behold, what I thought was knee-deep ended up over my waist! It is a beautiful area and we saw fresh wolf and bear tracks. Would love to go back some day!

I was guiding a group through this area. I thought this one would finish off my group. It was rough and muddy when we visited. The jump between sections over the creek was tough on them, as was the length combined with terrain. This portage is tough, but a fair price to pay for visiting this beautiful area.

After the cutoff, the trail twists and turns before eventually dropping down rather steeply to the pond. Once at the pond, you will need to paddle a short distance to the east to hook up with the trail again (it is within eyeshot). From there the trail is a little muddy in a few spots but, for the most part, is a good well worn trail to the large landing on Boulder Lake.
