We had a really tough time finding the Clair Lake side of this one...the landing (if it can be called that) is in a little divot in the shoreline, hidden under some cedars, just before a couple of huge glacial erratics to the left of the stream. Even when we got out of the canoe we weren't sure it was the correct trail, until we found some recently cut stumps from the portage maintenance crew. We lost the trail a couple of times in the mud and moss; there were some trees down along the trail (Aug 2024) that need to be cleaned up, and one very steep hill halfway through the carry. I wouldn't exactly call this a 'treacherous' portage, but we certainly didn't enjoy it.

I have done this portage twice and it can be a treacherous and a bit of a swamp walk depending on water levels and recent rain

The Clair Lake side of the portage in at the end of a little muddy stream. Decent spots to hop and unload. Nice walk with some hills and rock faces. couple mud holes but nothing crazy. I enjoyed this walk a lot.
