Large gravel landing on the Malberg end. This is a scenic portage that traces the rim of the river gorge (which can be explored relatively easily.) It climbs from both ends with the climb out of the river being quite steep. Small sloping rock face landing on the other side. The pool below the rapids is worth fishing.

Take a few cast on each side of this portage. Plenty of smallmouth, northerns and walleye to keep you entertained. We caught numerous "blue" walleyes on the Malberg side.

Beware the wrong portage here. If you look at the second and third photos posted here I show the false trail. Over the left shoulder of the paddler is a steep take out that leads to a bushwhack portage. Don't take it! Go another 60 feet down the channel toward the rocky creek and it is on the left. The second photo shows another look at the WRONG portage take out.
