She's a rocky one! definite elevation changes here. You'll be ready for the break afterwards.

The Chad end of this portage is fascinating. The portage ends in an impressive beaver pond, before my map (Voyageur #3) indicates that it should. As you paddle out across the pond to the southeast, about halfway across there is a massive berm holding back the water, and you see that you're 10-15 feet above Chad lake itself. The berm, which has a scramble trail down it, is an impressive engineering structure. It has an arch shape, like large concrete dams.

Rocky landing on Chad. There is a small beaver pond you will have to paddle across very near the Chad end. (just paddle in the direction the trail was going) There were several short ups & downs, rocks, roots & muddy sections & a decent climb out of the Pine Creek valley. Landing will likely be quite mushy on creek end. Offers a decent overlook of the Pine Creek valley.
