A conglomeration of jutting & jagged boulders makes up the landing on the Vern and continues much the same up the first rise. Just after the beaver dam, the trail levels out and soon affords the opportunity to put back in the water. However, In my estimation (perhaps apart from extreme flooding) it is more efficient to just combine this portage with the next and do it all at once. There is a worn path that should allow you to do so. There is a nice view back down Vern Lake and be sure to check out the waterfall/rapids more thoroughly if time allows.

Fairly quick portage for us that connects to the longer one beyond the pond. The snow was just starting to fall so we were moving quick to get to Brule. The interesting "savannah-like" scenery from Vern continues into these portages which is very pretty.
