The Pauly book has this as an L10 (most difficult) portage, so I spent the preceding day psyching up my crew of young first timers to take this on. But we really didn't find it to be the challenge we had heard it would be. Come prepared, but come without fear.

Longer portage. However, the trail is well-worn and there isn't any massive ups or downs. I didn't find this one incredibly memorable. It goes pretty quickly if you can single portage it. The landing on Kelly looks like a highway. 6/10

This was a difficult portage. Long, hilly, and uneven trail. My partner described it as a "billy goat trail."

It was likely due to this being our last portage of the day (coming all the way from South Temperance) but this portage wore me out. I thought it was more difficult that our 225 rod portage to begin the day. Is uphill to start and a bit windy in some spots.

Going from Kelly to Burnt, the first stretch was uphill, and the remaining trail wasn't too bad. I expected worse given how tall the terrain around the portage looked.

Nice landings. Trail has several ups and downs with varying terrain (rocky - muddy) Still, I didn't think it was as tough as the guide books rated it.
