Mushy landing on Gull Lake is an apt precursor of what is to come as there were several mud holes along the way to Pietro, including a notably large one on this mostly level path. Where the mud slacks off there are boulders that also present problems for boots now slick with said mud. The Pietro landing, in particular, is a memorable gathering spot of many irregular shaped stones. There are some impressive cliffs on Gull Lake very nearby that are worth checking out.
