I believe this is the most difficult of the portages in the ring of 5 lakes NE of Bald Eagle Lake. Both landings are troublesome, more so for the Bald Eagle end. It's a long grind up a fairly steep path towards Turtle Lake. It's not so much that there are exceedingly steep sections it's just the continual aspect of steadily climbing. The Turtle end is steeper but, it the duration is much shorter. (To varying degrees, this pattern plays out across many of the longer portages in this area) There is a cool huge rock escarpment at the Turtle Lake end that has a neat overhang & a mini-cave. It's also has some good large staging rocks for loading packs or just taking a seat and catching your breath. You can also easily walk to the nearby campsite from the landing.

A nice portage with a gradual incline from Bald Eagle Lake to midpoint but pretty steep for the last few dozen yards to Turtle lake. Very pretty, lots of wild rose & lady slippers blooming in early June.
