This has to be one of the coolest entry point portages in terms of raw scenic value. The large sloping rock through the middle is unique as are the pounding rapids nearby. With flood waters up right now, the north landing is in knee-deep foam with swift current as soon as one gets out of the protection of the landing.

A nice climb down to the river from the EP, but a short blood pumper when heading back up. Watch your footing when the rock is wet. Definitely had worse entry portages than this -- not bad overall.

As others mentioned, an easy portage, though it is a bit tiring at the end of a trip when paddling against a significant headwind on the river. Slippery when wet!

Portage from parking lot. Wide portage down hill from parking lot. Very slippery on sloped rock area.

Pretty easy portage, well maintained, well traveled portage. Some slippery rocks to cross when wet. Downhill going in. 2/5

This is a fairly easy portage when you are fresh and eager to hit the water. It's tiresome coming back up on the way out- especially when carrying two canoes and two packs for your tired-out group of rookies. There are a few logs to step over and the grade is fairly steep, but overall the footing is good. There are some beautiful ladyslippers along the trail to admire on the way back up for your next load.
