The portage itself is easy, with a couple downed trees, and goes downhill to Stuart Lake. The trail can be a little tricky to find at first but it's on top of the rock face and to the right from the landing, which is marked by a cairn. There are many blueberries here. The downside is a new beaver dam on the south side immediately before the portage (I think an older dam broke downstream lowering water levels at the landing) that necessitates a lift-over through the mud with no clear path and then a little boulder-field navigation. You can see the portage from this obstruction, but there's too much mud and water to walk all the way and too many rocks and clumps of grass to paddle. It is frustrating but doable. Reaching Stuart Lake is a relief at the end of this river!

This is a beautiful finish to the Stuart River. The small waterfall is a welcome site to sit and enjoy the view. No sign of the old trail crossing that used to go through here.

Pretty easy portage, can be muddy, and generally goes down hill into Stewart. The portage landing on the Stewart River side is located at a sloping rock face. It was marked by a cairn when we went through. 1/5

You can do the whole portage which begins on a smooth rock face marked with a rock cairn, but it's better to keep paddling around the bend and pick up the portage halfway through. This is an easy portage.
