The water was really high this day and the peninsula was an island this day. The portage is close to the end of the point. The current was strong enough that we weren't able to force our way up and had to take it. Just a quick lift over.

Super simple portage. If there's two of you, you might be able to just pick up each side of your loaded canoe and walk it. I was by myself so didn't have that option. You could also paddle through both directions or at least walk it through the rapids if need be - I just didn't feel up to it considering how short the portage was. I'm sure in lower water you couldn't paddle or walk through the rapids.

Water levels are low in 2021. I watched a group walk the canoes up the river, but that wasn't in the cards for us with kids in the canoe. This was a quick up and over with a rocky, shallow landing on the northern side.

We were able to paddle up the rapids, but it would have been tough with all of our gear. The portage is very short and easy. We saw several groups with gear try to paddle up the rapids and fail. If the water level was higher I think it would have been quite a bit easier. The portage is just to the left of the rapids when approaching from the South.

I wasn't able to paddle up it on a kid trip, but it would def. be possible with 2 adults. No problems going down. The portage is short, or you could line your boat if you dont want to unload.
