The longest of the portages from Birch to Knife, but not difficult at all. Doesn't feel as long as the maps say it is. It's a pretty nice walk through the woods and smells great! Tons of room on the Knife side for staging in either direction, just pull up on the rock beds. I like to have a quick lunch here after coming from Birch.

We had an easy time through this portage. The weather was rough as it was cool and raining, but the group was having fun. We stopped to play in the water a little while on the Knife end and talked about some of the local ecology. Cool portage.

Expected a longer portage based on the number of rods marked on the map. It didn't seem longer than 50 rods. Brought a first timer on the trip, and after day 1, he was talking about how the portages are no big deal. He'd learn what moderately tough portages are a few days later. From Moose to Knife, they are real easy.

Have done the Knife River portages several times. This one is mostly high and dry with good landings on both ends (especially on the Knife Lake end). Can be muddy during rainy springtime weather

If you head to knife with first timers, this will be the one they call "the long one".... ha. Very easy, well traveled, pretty portage, nice landing at Knife.

Straight forward. Final portage to get into knife lake. No real obstacles. A bit longer than the previous few but manageable. Nice landing on the knife side.
