Overnight paddle, motor boat, hiking trips and day-use trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness between May 1 and September 30 are required to optain a quota permit. These permits regulate the number of groups allowed to enter at each entry point, each day. Groups may only enter the BWCA on the day of the stated date on the permit. Quota permits may be picked up the day before or the day of the stated entry date. All permits are available through Forest Service issuing stations or a designated Cooperator. Since there are a limited number of quota permits available for each entry point, reservations are highly recommended.
